LFW: J.W. Anderson

At last year’s British Fashion Awards, J.W. Anderson secured his place in the London fashion scene by being the first ever designer to win both designer of the year for the men’s and womenswear categories. Once again he proved himself worthy of the award this season.

J.W. Anderson presented his collection with a quote by interior designer David Hicks. “The excitement of today is in the freedom of the individual to make his own choices, and the range of possibilities for which he may choose.” This quote had inspired the designer to create a collection of  60’s modern cocktail wear all imagined within a domestic and interiors setting. Meaning many architectural lines, multi-textures fabrics, folded sculptural mini skirts and quilted leather capelets. The 60’s element showed in the cocktail dresses, cream layered tunics with studded details and cream blouses that were chained together with silver links. Simpler looks were a languid silver silk button through maxi dress with black scrawled print detail around the neck and on the side. It was a sharp, decisive, well-executed show full of engaging ideas.
